Tape and Media Transfer and restoration.
Do you have important archival or sentimental footage sitting on a tape or other media that you want to save for the future?
Many types of media are now becoming more and more difficult to read or play back. Even relatively modern digital formats such as Sony’s optical disc system now present challenges as the software needed to connect to the drives and read the discs is no longer commonly available and it was built for old operating systems also no longer supported.
DVCAM, DV and DVCPro tape drives connect to computers using Firewire, but computers no longer have firewire and modern operating systems don’t support it.
Tapes don’t normally need a computer to play back, but the tape decks are now getting on and finding working decks can be difficult. Plus, the tapes themselves are likely degrading, especially if they haven’t been stored well.
We can transfer your content to files that can be saved on hard drives, LTO tape, in the cloud or whatever your preferred storage system is. We can treat badly stored tapes to maximise the likelyhood of successful playback.
We currently handle : Sony Optical Disc, Sony ODA, HDV (Both JVC 720p and Sony 1080i), Digital Betacam, Betacam SX, Betacam SP, DVCAM, miniDV, VHS, and Hi8.
All transfers are timebase corrected, video levels adjusted and corrected of necesary.
